Norwegian Cruise Line Announces Order of Four Concept Cruise Ships

cruise lines

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. announced that four new concept cruise ships will be added to the NCL fleet by 2025. Fincantieri will deliver one of the four ships, which can hold 3,300 people. Fincantieri's prototype project is the basis for this order. Four ships with a combined capacity of 140,000 tons will be built. The designs will be based upon Freestyle Cruising, which is a type of cruising being promoted by NCL.

Carnival Pinnacle

In the 2000's, Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation conceived a concept cruise vessel called the Pinnacle Project. Originally planned to be the world's largest cruise ship, the Pinnacle Project would have had many pipe dreams and unheard of features. Joe Farcus, Carnival Cruise Lines' chief creative officer, created the Pinnacle Program. It was later incorporated into Carnival Vista, a construction that took many years.

Pinnacle was a cruise ship design that featured a split structure that ran the length of the ship's Stern. The Pinnacle's stern design is very similar to MSC Seaside's, but it was designed to have two slides. The two slides would have featured dry varieties with many corkscrews, instead of the usual wet varieties on the other ships.

How To

How to be safe on a cruise ship

You need to know a lot before you set sail on your cruise. You must understand how to behave when onboard so you don't get into trouble. These safety tips will make your trip more enjoyable.

  1. Be mindful of where you are at all times. On board a cruise ship, people tend to congregate together, especially during meals. You can easily become distracted by the chatter and food of others. You shouldn't allow this to distract you away from the important things you need to do. If you see someone doing something dangerous, like smoking or drinking alcohol, tell them politely to stop.
  2. You should always keep your roomkey close by you when you board the vessel. You'll be easily found if something happens. Your passport is also important.
  3. Keep valuables away from prying eyes. Most cabins include drawers under the beds. This is a great place for valuables like passports, credit cards, or money. You should also make sure that nothing of value is visible. You should keep your bags hidden away from others.
  4. Keep hydrated. Although cruise ships offer plenty of water, it can be difficult to remember to drink enough. Get bottled water for free on the ship. You should avoid becoming dehydrated. Dehydration can make you tired and cranky, which can lead to fights or other accidents.
  5. Be attentive to all announcements. Announcements are posted everywhere, including on TV screens and public address systems. They include safety procedures and emergency exits as well as weather reports. These announcements will be of great importance. They could save your life.
  6. Always lock the cabin before you leave. No matter how kind a crew member might seem, your cabin should be locked. Thieves often break in through unlocked doors. If you need to use the restroom, ask a crew member for permission first.
  7. Avoid going alone overboard. It takes time for the ship’s crew to rescue anyone who falls overboard. Sharks and other marine creatures might be attracted to you while you wait. It's best to wait until help arrives.
  8. It is forbidden to smoke in the elevator. These elevators have high pressure, so smoke can build-up quickly. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, get off immediately. The fresh air outside doesn't necessarily mean you can breathe easily.
  9. Be familiar with the evacuation procedures. Every year, thousands are killed in elevator accidents. Follow the screen instructions in case of an emergency.
  10. Be familiar with the fire drill. Fire drills occur regularly, typically once per day. During a drill, everyone on deck has to evacuate. Follow the instructions given by crew members. Once the drill is over, you can go back to the cabin and lock the doors.
  11. Ask questions before you accept food and drinks. Food poisoning is a common problem among cruisers. It is common for people to not realize that certain foods can't be eaten onboard ships. Most cruise ships prohibit raw oysters. If you're unsure whether or not the food you've been offered is safe, politely refuse and look for another meal instead.
  12. Use the pool with caution There have been many cases of passengers falling into the pools accidentally. If this happens to you, tread water until someone notices you. It is possible to slip and tumble on the deck at any given moment. So always wear proper footwear and pay attention to your surroundings.
